The Powell endorsement is huge
Oct 19th, 2008 by Lynne
In August of 2007, Colin Powell donated $2,300 to John McCain. I suspect the horribly misguided choice of Palin as McCain’s running mate AND the crazy rhetoric of the last month were deal-breakers for a lot of Republicans and Independents, Mr. Powell included. I have my differences with him over his support for the invasion of Iraq, but I’m glad he has endorsed Obama nonetheless.
His rationale for endorsing Obama is well worth watching, particularly for his comments on Muslims in America.

Wow, Lynne! Thanks for sharing this. I’ve never admired Gen. Powell so much before. Listening to him talk about the mother mourning her son and his description of the headstone, I cried. He was very heartfelt. I hope what he says sways a lot of people.
And it’s about time a public figure has the guts to say Palin isn’t ready to be president and she’s too far to the right. Most of them skate around that issue.
Same here, Edie. I was so glad he said that about Muslims. I hope a lot of people listen to what Secretary Powell has to say in this interview as well as the press conference that followed.
You know, I think Powell belongs in jail rather than on TV–but I have to admit that I really loved his statement.
