Interesting post on author branding

Jody has a thought-provoking post about Author Branding at her blog. Like I was saying in the comments there, if you SAY you’re cutting-edge — or unique, or thrilling, or whatever — you immediately create an “Oh, yeah?” response in many people’s minds. From one way of looking at it, you’ve made your job harder, not easier, because you’ve set up resistance that you’ll now have to overcome.
Maybe it comes down to that old writing adage of “Show, don’t tell.”
