Piers Anthony has the scoop

If you’re a writer considering doing business with a small press, you definitely need to keep an eye on Piers Anthony’s Internet Publishing page. He bases his reports on tips from anonymous sources but does seem to verify information or at least qualify it as unsubstantiated. The history of trouble with companies like Triskelion Publishing and New Concepts is educational, to say the least.

Oooh… Fascinating link, Lynne! Wow - what a public service, for him to collect and organize all that data.
As someone who was once published with them, everything he says about NCP mirrors my experience with them (except the royalties issue, but I know people who did have this problem). From a business standpoint, they’re obviously doing something right to have stayed in business for >10 years, and I can certainly understand their focus on the more erotic books, since that’s where they make their money. Unfortunately, his discussion on their lack of communication is spot-on.
Anyone who asks me about them, I tell them pretty much what Mr. Anthony states here. I’ve heard some of their erotica authors do quite well. But their readership just isn’t looking for the less spicy content - of which my book’s lack of sales is an example. It just wasn’t the right market for that book.
It’s a great service he’s doing. If I know anyone who needs it, I’ll let them know. Thanks for posting this.
Piers Rocks! I found his link a few weeks ago — very enlightening!
Thanks for stopping by, Tessa! I agree — Piers Anthony is really doing a good thing for the community.
Wow, Jennette. I had no idea. Did you pull your book from NCP?
Hi, Edie! With everything that has been going on for the last week, I figured it was a good time to post a link to that site.
Hi, Ericka! Congrats on your book coming out at Cobblestone! I noticed that Piers had good things to say about them.
