Allan Gurganus on XM PR
Apr 24th, 2007 by Lynne
There are so many channels to choose from on XM that I often end up missing a lot of really good programming. I usually listen to Squizz or the Bone Yard on the way to work, but this morning, I ended up tuned to XM PR instead. Given my experience today, I think I’ll be tuning to channel 133 a lot more often. Bob Edwards had a wonderful interview with author Allan Gurganus, in which they discussed everything from Gurganus’ tour of duty on an aircraft carrier during Vietnam, to his experiences with the NYC party scene in the early days of the AIDS epidemic, to his thoughts on politics and WHY he writes.
That last bit is why I highly recommend that writers find a transcript or an online audio archive of this interview, if at all possible. Some public radio channels may rebroadcast the interview later in the week. I think XM PR may replay the interview on Saturday, but I’m still checking on that.
All I can say is, “Yeah. What HE said.” :-) I was smiling the rest of the day.

I don’t get XM. I’ll scour the internet for a transcript.
