An attack of the vapors

Nov 20th, 2006 by Lynne

John informs me that, not only is Doom going to be on HBO Tuesday night, but Karl Urban is in it. The Rock was plenty enough reason to watch it, but a movie with two of the models I've used for characters? Wow. The Rock is one of the models I used for Larek vul Caar, the hero of Lord of Fire. Karl Urban, as he appeared in The Chronicles of Riddick, looks something like Gregoire du Chauvigny, the hero of The Moon's Reflection. (Well, without the Goth-y armor and eye makeup!)

I really do have a cool husband. He actually goes looking for this stuff for me and records it on the DVR! And he won't mind, either, if I grin foolishly while we watch the movie. ;-)

    Lynne:

Oh, now it all makes sense. Larek is based on The Rock! Good taste in role models.

I love Karl. I actually even kind of like The Rock. I’m not sure either are enough to make me watch Doom. :)

That is a good husband, Lynne. Not too many of that type around - have fun! :)

Aw, that is very sweet. It sort of reminds me of my boyfriend and I this weekend. I thought he was going to watch House of the Flying Daggers Sunday night, but he ended up putting Narnia in because he knew I would pay attention to that and watch it with him. If it was HotFD, I would have just sat with him but have been reading my books. LOL

I love them both and Vin Diesel. But Karl Urban is prolly one of my favs. He is sooo intense and full of yum. I would love to see him plays a role in a comedy as a man with a wicked sense of humor.

Hi, Karen! The Rock is one of my favorites. I thought The Scorpion King was a pretty awful movie, but it was worth seeing just for him.

We haven’t watched Doom yet, Sara. :-) It suspect it’ll be awful. We’ve been helping my sister move for the past few days, so we have been too exhausted to watch it. Maybe we’ll get to watch it Thanksgiving night. I’ll let you know if it’s worth suffering through.

Hi, Cat! We haven’t seen Narnia OR Flying Daggers yet. Both of them sound amazing, and when we get more time, we’ve got to make a point to see them. Your boyfriend sounds like a keeper. :-)

That’s a cool idea, moon. I’ve only ever seen him in serious parts. Comedy would show another side entirely!

Hi, Kate! Thanks for stopping by!

If I were a better husband, the DVR would have recorded more than thirteen minutes of the movie. Grr.

Just enough to whet the appetite.

    Hey Lynne!

I heard you had a rockin’ blog. Looks great! I’m actually teaching a writing class in which all my students are using blogs to deal with current events, and so that’s what you found.

Oh–on the topic of your post, gotta love Karl Urban! He was also in the Bourne Supremacy (or whatever that recent one was), as well as the Lord of the Rings trilogy. He was the blonde prince of Rohan…I forget his character’s name. Complete eye candy.

Now we just need to get Phil to start a blog!

    Hope all is well, Julie

Hi, Julie! :-) Thanks for stopping by!

I don’t know if it’s rockin’ or not, but I have fun with it.

Yes, I agree — Phil MUST start a blog. He says he likes being mentioned on others’ blogs. You listening, Phil? :-)
